The first bank in Wooster, Ohio was the German Bank of Wooster. It was established in 1815 by Joseph H. Larwill. It failed by 1818. Lawsuits continued to be filed for several years after its failure. In 1838, the German Bank of Wooster was revived. Once again, it failed by 1841. (Wildcat Banks and Broken Banks of the Wayne County Frontier). Other early banks included the The State Bank of Ohio and The Bank of Wooster.
