- In the 1900 US Census for Wooster Ward 3, Cloyd V. Steinmetz is residing with his parents, Charles. W. and Lilly Steinmetz and is listed as a grocery clerk.
- Cloyd Victor Steinmetz marries Elizabeth Catherine Snyder on 22 May 1901 in Wayne County, Ohio. Elizabeth Catherine Snyder was the daughter of Josiah J. Snyder and Adrienna H. Bechtel. She was born August 4, 1879 in Franklin Township, Wayne County, Ohio [1]
- On Wednesday, July 3, 1901, Cloyd purchases the J. W. Myers Grocery on East Liberty St. [2] [3] A few days later, J.A. Garrett, a traveling salesman for Wooster Preserving Company, purchased 1/2 interest in the J. W. Myers Grocery with Cloyd Steinmetz. [4] The firm became known as Garrett & Steinmetz. (Wooster Republican July 10, 1901, p. 5)
- In the February 5, 1902 newspaper [5], it was announced that a lot of damage was done to the grocery store, Garrett & Steinmetz, when the water pipes burst in the Howard building. On May 7, 1902 [6], the partnership between J. A. Garrett (James A. Garrett) and Cloyd V. Steinmetz was dissolved. By the 1904 Wooster directory, C. V. Steinmetz is listed as a clerk and James A. Garrett is listed as a salesman.

- In the 1910 US Census for Wooster, Ward 1, Cloyd V. Steinmetz was listed as a commercial traveler for a flour mill.
- The 1912-1913 Wooster directory lists C. V. Steinmetz as a traveling salesman. [11]
- The 1915 Wooster directory lists him in traveling sales. [12]
- Cloyd V. Steinmetz purchased the grain elevator from George Spencer of Fredericksburg, Ohio sometime between 1915 and 1919.
- In the 1919 Wooster City Directory, Cloyd V. Steinmetz is listed as the Vice-President and Manager of the Wooster Grain & Seed Company located at 731 N. Bever St. [13]
- In the 1920 US Census for Wooster, Ward 3, Cloyd Steinmetz is listed as the Proprietor of a Grain Elevator.
- In 1922, Albert Tressel Slutz and Howard Sims, purchased the Wooster Grain & Seed Company from Cloyd Victor Steinmetz. The company changed its name to S & S Feed and Lumber Co. [14]
- By the 1923 Wooster City Directory, Cloyd V. Steinmetz is listed once again as a commercial traveler. [15]
