The monument business was started in Wooster in 1890 [sic 1895][1] by a former Wooster mayor, George A. Fisher, whose sons: Ralph E. Fisher and Harold Fisher, joined him in operating the firm (Ralph was also a Wooster mayor and Harold was mayor of Pandora, Ohio). The business was first located on E. South street near Market street, then later moved to the corner of S. Buckeye and E. South streets where the post office is today.
Following the death of George A. Fisher and his brother Harold Fisher, Ralph Fisher and his wife Deltha became sole owners of the business. When the post office was built in 1966 the Fishers moved their business and office to the northwest corner of Portage Rd. and St. Rt. 585. Then in 1974, George and Norma Newman bought the business from the Fishers and owned it up until 1990 when they sold the business to one of his employees.
