He was a Ruritan Charter Member, Rotarian, Greene Local School Board member, Singer Products Board member, Ohio Potato Growers Association member, and served as president of all five of these organizations at different times. He was also a valued member of the National Potato Board and Smithville Historical Society. In 1961, Arden was presented with the Outstanding Farmer Award by the Wooster Chamber of Commerce. His community and church will remember him for his many years of service, but his family will remember him for the joy and love he found in his faith, family and many friends which shone on his face with every smile and laugh.
