- 1887 - Great Eastern 5 and 10 Cent Novelty Store
Stores of this class, while dealing in an almost unlimited variety of 5 and 10 cent goods, have of late years added hundreds of useful and ornamental articles, and are no longer restricted in the values of goods, but comprise articles ranging from 5 cents to $5.00, and from 10 cents to $10.00, or even higher. But the novelty consists in things new, unique, beautiful, ornamental gift articles, useful in all departments, desirable in every home, applicable to all conditions of life. Indeed you cannot visit establishment such as the Great Eastern 5 and 10 cent store, now conducted by Mr. W.B. Bryson, without finding something you need and will buy; on the other hand, you can scarcely imagine an article which can be enumerated among toys, notions, fancy goods or novelties which may not be found.
