Comprehensive History

The Gasche House is Gothic Revival style home originally built in 1849 by Charles Gasche. It was the first house on what is known as "Historic Founders' Row District". A brick addition to the house was added in 1864. In 1905 the John Ames family bought the house. In 1910 Mr. Ames added the Italianate style front porch as a wedding gift to his wife. One of the Ames daughters. Marjorie, lived in the house until her passing in 1985. Several antique pieces owned by the Ames family are still found throughout the home. The house was then purchased by Jo and James Howey. The Howeys began the Bed & Breakfast in 1986 - it was the first Bed and Breakfast in Wooster. In 1994 the Bed and Breakfast was purchased by John and Lauresa Durham, and was purchased by Marcia Blum in 2006.

In 2017 the Bed and Breakfast was purchased by Genevieve and Bill Everett, the current proprietors.

In the homes 168 year history there have been 6 owners.
