Minglewood Co. Gets Sand Bank
The Minglewood Coal Company has leased the Hixson sand bank, south-west of the city, and will operate it during the coming year to supply sand formerly secured by this company by rail. Manager Shavely stated Monday that there would probably be a great deal of trouble this year in securing shipments of sand, gravel and other materials of this nature. He added that the company examined local conditions and had samples of the sand from the Hixson bank analyzed and tested by the state highway department at Columbus, where it was accepted and given a high standing as material suitable for road construction work.
The Minglewood company Monday started upon a contract to furnish sand for Stowe & McGarry, who are paving the Wooster-Applecreek road. The company will work the bank on a large scale than in the past, and will be in a position to supply sand for general use in Wooster."
