In his business career he early built the Maysville Drain & Tile Works at that town, which he operated for five years, and then came to work for the Underwood Whip Company of Wooster, where he was employed as a traveling salesman for another five years. The next years he operated a laundry on East South Street, before opening the popular West End Restaurant at 26 West Liberty Street. [1]
