Berger Street is only two block in length, lying between Spring and University Street east of Quinby Street. John David Berger who was a restaurateur in Wooster at the turn of the last century, was born in Mt. Eaton, Ohio in 1854. In 1876 he married Johanna L. Tracey who was born near Apple Creek. In his business career he early built the Maysville Drain & Tile Works at that town, which he operated for five years, and then came to work for the Underwood Whip Company of Wooster, where he was employed as a traveling salesman for another five years. The next years he operated a laundry on East South Street, before opening the popular West End Restaurant at 26 West Liberty Street. [1]
