QUICK AND LIBERAL RESPONSE.

The Public Library Growing—Many New Books—Yet More Needed.

We gratefully acknowledge the hearty response from many friends of the Reading Room to our last call for books. Nearly one hundred volumes have been added to its library, many of them culled evidently from home book cases, thus proving the genuineness of the donor’s interest, for as the love of a good book is akin to that for friend and home, so when one gives choice books it is giving of their rich treasure.

One of our prominent large-hearted citizens generously contributed a case of over 50 books, most of them fresh from the publishers. “Black Beauty,” that wonderful friend of our noble animal, the horse, is not on the shelves, and “Beautiful Joe” is promised. “Bonnie Brier Bush” by Ian Maclaren, and his later book “Auld Lang Syne,” come to hand from our Eastern friend, thus adding to former favors. Many other attractive and helpful books we would like to mention but a visit to the Reading Room will satisfy you better. Boys and girls, too, come and look up “The Reason Why.” The Library now numbers about 300 volumes and little by little is substantially and permanently laying its foundation, the most beautiful thing about it being that we can all in some way, “lend a hand” and have a part in the work of its building, thus leaving an immeasurable impress upon the future generations of Wooster, and in time realizing our heart’s desire, a Public Library! Books will continue to be both our pride and our need. Many more must be added before books can be given out as in other libraries. Send them in. Books, Books, Books.
