Wooster Daily Republican March 3, 1894 Page 2

Elyria is not as large or as wealthy as Wooster, but our city has nothing of the sort, while the Elyria public Library contains nearly 10,000 volumes, owns its own property in the heart of the city and is entirely self sustaining having an ample endowment fund. This is a noble report and we hope that the time is not far away when our city will begin the same good work. The University of Wooster library is not accessible to the general public and cannot, in fact should not, be adapted to the work that is expected of a public library. Our citizens, especially our young people, have more occasion to use such a library than is generally thought, and some citizen who wants to be called blessed by all Wooster for all time to come, should lead this movement to permanent success.
