Wooster Daily Republican December 8, 1894 Page 2, column 1

Those who are in the movement for a free reading room for Wooster, something that will do much good, will be interested in learning that the ladies of Bucyrus are even more progressive, the Telegraph reporting that “the Bucyrus Memorial Library Association promises to be one of the best incorporations ever organized” there, starting with 109 charter members and more to be enrolled. The work is modeled after the Mansfield association which has given that city so fine a public library and in both instances is carried on by the ladies. The Akron public library was started by a voluntary association, but has been supported by taxation for many years and now with its reading room has outgrown its present quarters, and is used more and more by the public every year. In Akron, too, the librarian and assistants are ladies.
