    Chester Township Schools included: [1]

    • #1 School - Science Point School, a brick building, now a private residence remaining on the original site. The school was closed in 1936 and located on Matty Road about one half mile west of Congress Road.
    • #5 School - Number Five School, a brick building is on the southeast corner of Smithville Western and Firestone roads.
    • Killbuck College - a brick building, closed in 1941 and remains on the north side of Lattasburg Road east of Lehr Road.
    • #1 School - Philco Schooll - Number One School, a frame building was originally located about three miles southeast of Congress on Cedar Valley Road and was moved further north on the same road. Repurposed as a building.
    • #3 School - Red Swamp School - Number Three School, a frame building was moved by James Ickes after closing in 1919 from one mile east of Lattasburg on Matty Road to his farm further east on the same road. Repurposed as a farm building.
    • Mount Hope School - a frame building, located two miles west of Lattasburg on the Ashland-Wayne County line. After closing around 1918 it was moved to Pleasant Home where it was used as a hatchery and later remodeled into a house.
    • Overton School - located on the northeast corner of Overton and Mechanicsburg roads. After closing in 1941 it was made into two houses which now border the Killbuck Creek near the original site.
    • Overton schools - two schools existed in Overton prior to 1897 - the first was a log cabin located south of town and the second was in Overton and later used as a tool shed.
    • #8 School - Excellisor Hall - Number Eight School built around 1920 and remained open until 1942, the school was located on the southwest corner of Ashland and Firestone roads has a later-built school building still standing in 1987. The structure was once a restaurant called Purdy's Lunch.
    • #4 School - Hickory Grove School - Number Four School was shown on the 1897 map, closed in 1942, was located on Smithville Western Road at Ogden Road south.
    • 2 schools gave no name or numbers on the 1897 map were located on Camp Road. Possibly Number Six and Number Seven schools.
      • 1 school located on the east side of Camp Road south of Myers Road
      • 1 school located on the southeast corner of Camp and Hiner roads.
    • New Pittsburg School - two room school, built in 1899 and closed in 1942.
    • Lattasburg School - two room school, opened in 1924 and closed in 1933, a building which was previously a church
