Wooster Journal and Democratic Times Jan. 15, 1840 Groff and Hoke, saddle and harness manufactory, announce to citizens of Wooster they have formed a partnership prosecution. The above business opened a shop in town of Wooster, 1 door west of General Coulter Store for saddle harness, bridles, trunks and whips. Ads for: Charles and William McClure, tin and sheet iron manufactory; JP Coulter, saddle manufactory; Cyrus Spink, a few doors east of the courthouse and opposite Wiliam McComb and Co. store; JW Schuckers will receive in exchange for payment of debts, various wheat, rye, oats, corn and flour. Wooster Journal and Democratic Times April 15, 1840 Rates reduced. US mail line from Wooster to Whelling by Mt. Vernon, canal Dover, New Philadelphia, East Port, Stockton, Cadiz, Harrissionville, Mt. Pleasant to Wheeling, leaves Wooster every M,W,D at 3 pm and rests all night at Cadiz and reaches Wheeling by 11 am the succeeding day. Lines connect at Wheeling with mail line from Frederick at which place the rail company causes to Philadelphia and Baltimore allow a cheap and ready passage. At Wooster line leaves after the Western and Northern mails for Cleveland, Norwalk and Mansfield and connects canal at Canal Dover. Packets are constantly reaching in the direction of Cleveland and also Columbus, Cincinnati, Portsmouth and Ohio at Cadiz intersecting Studenville Line at Wooster Line, intersects the line which passes through Ashland for Huron and Detroit, also at Wooster for the line to Mansfield Byrcus and take the last place for lower Sandusky. The last four years have been running 8 months in year in coaches and the other 4 months on horseback. The present contract continues the contractors to entry the mail carriages the whole year, of course no apprehension need be indulged by the public of any disappointment. Season or weather. The carriages and horses have been selected with the utmost care and have but experienced and sober drivers are employed. Applications of the line may be made at the Wooster Hotel and US Hotel Wheeling as well as the various points. H Koller and JH Myers- contractors.

Wooster Journal and Democratic Times May 6, 1840 Martin Wolfe respectfully informs his friends and public that he has moved his cabinet shop to the building formerly occupied by Ezra E Dill, opposite the American Hotel, where he will wait upon those who give him a call. He keeps constantly on hand, a large amount of furniture, secretaries, bureaus, bookcases, sofas, dining tea and breakfast tables. Lafayette Foundry. The subscriber takes the method of informing citizens of Wooster that he has established a foundry in Wooster and is now prepared to manufacture all kinds of casting as in the county requires, James Johnson.

Ropes, ropes. The subscribers respectfully inform the citizens of Wooster that they have established a rope factory in Wooster and located west of the Baptist Church and north of the Methodist Church, where they have commenced the manufacture of cordage and large rope. Disordered currency low prices and numerous other evils that heretofore afflicted those who have purchased dry goods, groceries, hardware and crockery to all those who wish to reduce their experiences 50% below those of any former year without purchasing less goods, the subscriber offers a rare opportunity of doing so which he intends will be convinced by calling at his cheap cash store in Wooster, 2 stores below Maizes American Hotel where he is opening a large and selected assortment of cheap goods. The reasons for the change of title are that the one more adopted at the same time is equally significant of his character and can be referred to with more ease by and with more inclined to remark upon his contents. The Wooster Democrat will be published weekly at 2.00 in advance and 2.50 if paid within the year and 3.00 if payment is delayed until payment expires.
