  • 1880 - July 5, Wayne County Commissioners purchased 82.25 acres for $12,500 to purchase a home for children.
  • 1882 - March 20, J. B> Pinkerton was the first Children's Home Superintendent
  • 1882 - Building needed essential renovation.
  • 1940s - Family foster homes were found to care for the children.
  • 1950s - Up to around the 1950s the Children's Home operated its own school having one teacher for all ages. Once the school closed children were sent to the Wooster public schools.
  • 1960s through early 1970s - The number of children housed at the facility gradually declined.
