Location

1880 - July 5, Wayne County Commissioners purchased 82.25 acres for $12,500 to purchase a home for children.
1882 - March 20, J. B> Pinkerton was the first Children's Home Superintendent
1882 - Building needed essential renovation.
1940s - Family foster homes were found to care for the children.
1950s - Up to around the 1950s the Children's Home operated its own school having one teacher for all ages. Once the school closed children were sent to the Wooster public schools.
1960s through early 1970s - The number of children housed at the facility gradually declined.
