Dr. Maurice C. Kropf and his wife were largely instrumental in founding Orrville Community Osteopathic Hospital where Kropf was chief of the department of obstetrics and gynaecology. The original building was planned and drawn-up by architect Herman J. Albrecht in 1952. [1]. An addition was added in 1958[2]. Another addition was added in 1970.[3]
The hospital opened its doors in 1954. Its name was first changed to Wayne General Hospital and then Wayne General and Podiatry Hospital. It closed in the summer of 1986.

The hospital opened its doors in 1954. Its name was first changed to Wayne General Hospital and then Wayne General and Podiatry Hospital. It closed in the summer of 1986.
It became Orrville Pointe, a part of the JAG Healthcare Inc. company, a 47-bed skilled nursing and long term care facility. Orrville Pointe specializes in short term rehabilitation, with a focus on maximum functional gain for long-term sustainability in the home.
