August Imagard - Obituary appeared in the Dalton Gazette on Thursday, October 13, 1904, page 4.

Mr. August Imgard, one of the most highly respected residents of Wooster and father of Mrs. W. H. Hubbell of this place died very suddenly last Friday noon. He had been in ill health for some months but was able to attend to his business every day. He was a tailor by trade and the day before his death worked all day. Friday morning he was up and about the house as usual and wanted to go down town but was prevailed to remain at home as it was seen that he was very weak.He took a bad spell with his heart at 10 a.m. and died at 12 o'clock.

Mr. Imgard was born in Wetzlar, Germany, 76 years ago and had lived in Wooster since 1848. He was a very in-industrious man and very successful in his business. He had one of the most elegant homes in Wooster and took great pride in his home and the beautiful grounds of his homestead.

Old citizens of Wooster gave Mr. Imgard the credit for bringing to this community the custom of having Christmas trees during the holidays, and it was said of him that he was the first person to trim a tree here as was the custom in the Fathreland. This was over fifty years ago, and it was Mr. Imgard's delight to tell how religiously he has kept up the practice, and how in recent years when his own children had left the parental roof, of his pleasure in securing the evergreens and trimming them up with all that money and love could devise for his grandchildren.

Mr. Imgard is survived by his wife and four children, Harry Imgard of the Wayne county bank, Mrs. Dr. H. A. Hart of Wooster; Mrs. Major J. R. McQuigg of Cleveland and mrs. Rev. W. H. Hubbell of Dalton. The funeral was held Monday afternoon and was largely attended.
