Comprehensive History

David Nice came to Wooster, Ohio in 1873, and then worked with William Rice in a book bindery. After the death of Jonas Nachtrieb in 1879, David Nice bought out the Nachtrieb stock of hats and caps, and to it added a line gentlemens furnishing goods and for several years kept the old Nachtrieb stand. In the Spring of 1885 he united with three other people in the purchase of the old Childs building block, and the store room was then remodeled and fitted up for the special use of David Nice.
