- August 15, 1796 - "Big" Wayne County formed, comprising of 5 states: Ohio, Michigan, parts of Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin
- 1803 - State of Ohio was formed
- 1803-1846 - Wayne County in 22-year process of shrinking to its present size
- 1813 - Wayne County, Ohio organized, changed 1 township to Killbuck
