The Sugar Bowl was the predecessor to Wooster's well-loved The Shack. It was owned and operated by George Stavropoulos [1] and William Syriopoulos (later known as William Syrios). As a confectionery, the Sugar Bowl gave its customers a chance to satisfy their sweet tooth. Over the years, the Sugar Bowl went through a number of changes. This included a change in proprietors as George Stavropoulos went on to pursue other business ventures while William Syriopoulos continued to run the Sugar Bowl. As sole proprietor, William Syriopoulos branched out and also offered student supplies [2], fountain service, and lunches [3]. The name of the business was officially changed to The Shack in 1947 [4].
