- 1978 - Established - A small group of people interested in the railroad established the Orrville Railroad Heritage Committee.[1]
- 1981 - Membership was opened to the general public.[2]
- 1981 - Depot Days were held and still continues today as Orrville Railroad Day.[3]
- 1982 - The Orrville Railroad Heritage Committee purchased and restored the former 1868 Pennsylvania Railroad Union Station. The Signal Tower was also purchase and relocated adjacent to the station.
- 1984 - The Orrville Railroad Heritage Committee purchased its own locomotives - F9 A-unite and two F7 B-units of Milwaukee Road and Burlington Northern heritage.
- 1992 - The Orrville Railroad Heritage Committee adopted changing the name to Orrville Railroad Heritage Society.
- 1993 - Purchased an ex-Amtrak "shorty" baggage care and converted it for use as a concession car.
- 2000 - The three F-units needed expensive rebuilding and were sold and replaced with GP7u.
- 2008 - Purchased and restored a Fairmont A-4 motor car M-2180 "Millie"
- 2013 - Purchased the long time excursion regular RPCX-3850 and added to the fleet as a First Class Parlor car.
- 2014 - RPCX 101, 102, 103, 104 and 106 were derailed in transit and suffered varying degrees of damage. Nos. 103, 104 and 106 were subsequently sold. Nos. 101 and 102 were repaired and returned to service.
- 2015 - The Society ended its long tradition of excursion around Ohio and Pennsylvania.
- 2015 - Purchased DABO, Inc. and moved all rail equipment to that facility.
- 2017 - Sold RPCX 101, 102, 105, and 3850 to the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum.
