Nu-Way Housing Company, Incorporated was established by Grover Cleveland Butler in 1914 working as a general contractor building Sullivan and Lakeville, Ohio school buildings, churches, and new homes in the area during the 1910s. In 1921, he built an automobile garage in New Pittsburg, Ohio in which the front half was rented as a new car showroom and service area, while he ran the construction company out of the rear of the building. Eventually the construction company took over the entire building and became the G. C. Butler and Sons Construction Company that built new homes, remodeled old homes, and expanded into commercial buildings.

During the 1940s an association with the United Steel Fabricators created what was then a new market of constructing metal buildings which was to become a mainstay of the company's business for the next 40 years. Nu-Way built the first metal building, the "Handy Hut", at United Steel Fabricator's (USF) plant in Wooster, Ohio and continued to build USF buildings, including the last one ever produced at their plant in 1969-1970. Wayne County is home to many of these USF metal buildings, a couple of which served as the Wayne County Airport's main hanger and T hanger. Astro Metallurgical Corporation's manufacturing facility, Shriner Sole Company in Killbuck, auto dealerships such as Mathews Ford (formerly Bob Saunders), and Ben Bell Chevrolet all utilized USF metal buildings.

It was during the early 1950s when the housing market in Wooster, Ohio was rapidly growing that Nu-Way Housing built many of the homes in the Christmas Run Blvd. to Catalina Ave. area; with as many as 21 homes built in one summer. The Wooster Accommodation on Cleveland Rd. were also built by Nu-Way and operated by Richard Butler. In 1953, the company was incorporated and took on the new name of Nu-Way Housing Company, Inc. with Grover C. Butler as President and his three sons, Lester Butler, Russell Butler, Richard Butler, and daughter, Dorothy (Butler) Ohio, all involved in the business.

During the year 1960, Grover C. Butler passed away and the company continued under the leadership of his sons: Richard Butler as President, Russell Butler as Vice President, Dorothy (Butler) Ohio as Secretary-Treasurer, and Stan Ohio as a Director. Lester Butler had moved to Florida where he established his own successful construction company.

In 1973, Richard and Russell Butler retired, while Stan Ohio became permanently disabled, which left Dorothy (Butler) Ohio as the sole owner of the corporation. Jerry Ohio became President and Lanny Ohio, Vice President.

In 1980, the name was changed to Nu-Way Construction, Inc. as it better described the business operations when they began to concentrate on commercial building projects and no longer were involved in residential construction. National accounts included remodeling 14 stores for Quality Farm & Fleet, the Ferro Corporation's 45ft high process plant, the Roadway Express terminal, the U.S.S.'s 106,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility once located in West Salem, Ohio, the DuPont maintenance facility, and the NASA data-storage facility at the Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Many Wayne County companies have buildings or additions which were built by Nu-Way Construction:Wooster Products Inc., Rexroth, Magna Fab, and United Steel Fabricators. [1]
