Two large gasoline storage tanks were removed from Village Auto - Sunoco last Friday. Owner of the Sunoco Gas Station, Don Douglas said the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency mandated removal of the tanks as part of a 25 year replacement program. The tanks were installed in 1968 and are estimated to have a 25 year service life. Douglas said because of the tremendous cost to replace and upgrade the storage tanks he decided to discontinue selling gasoline. E. A. Construction handled removal and is shown dragging out the second large storage tank located to the East of the gas station at 102 W. Main Street, Dalton.

An inspector from the Ohio State Fire Marshal was present to make sure the tanks were removed in a safe manner. Village Auto will continue to do repair and service work.
