West Salem Now Has Chamber of Commerce.

As a result of two mass meetings held recently in the West Salem Opera House, a Chamber of Commerce was organized by the citizens there last Wednesday evening. This organization is a very able and enthusiastic one, having an initial membership of fifty five business men and farmers in the vicinity.

The worthy and highly commendable aim of the Chamber of Commerce is to take advantage of and welcome the new factories which have been anxious to locate in that city for the past three months. The questions of good roads and all civic betterments will be considered as vital, interesting each property owner and citizen in or around West Salem.

Congress township needs just such executive ability as is found in this live organization and will do well to encourage and strengthen its every effort. The following officers were elected by a popular ballot on Wednesday evening. President Chas. Stroup, automobile dealer and agent for the The International Harvester Co.; vice president, I. A. Mann real estate agent; secretary, Chas. W. McBride, cashier of The Farmers State Bank; treasurer, Guy C. Fuhrman Bros., grocers: board of directors consist of J. H. Wiley, S. A. Read, C. G. Britton, W. B. Schott, W. S. Zehner.
