The Creston Basket & Veneer Co., Creston. It was Ralph Waldo Emerson that illustrious exponent of American Philosophy who is credited with that gem of thought wherein he says that if a man, writes a better book, preaches a better sermon or makes a better mousetrap than his neighbor, though he build his house in the woods, the world will make a beaten path to his door. And this is a verity that may be accepted quite literally in any line of endeavor.

I think the organizers of this factory must have read that little epic of Mr. Emerson, for they have certainly adhered to the tenets of its teachings in their own business and if they did, it was surely with profitable results for there is a well defined and marked path to the door of the Creston Basket and Veneer Co. And the hinges of that door will never grow rusty. They are kept swinging to the tune of many satisfied customers.

This is a corporation composed of 8 people, Frank McIntire being president and H. C. Knepp, secretary and treasurer.

This concern manufactures bushel baskets and all sizes of splint or Market baskets, using native logs for the splint baskets.

Their baskets are sold at wholesale to farmers and orchard farms throughout northern Ohio, in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Their daily output averages 7200 splint baskets and 1500 bushel baskets and a large portion of them are delivered by truck. They employ 48 local people and maintain three large delivery trucks.
