"The first meeting of the Congress Community Brotherhood for the 1938-39 season was held Tuesday in the Congress High School auditorium.

C. W. Snyder was in charge of the program and Ira Garver of West Salem, president of the organization took charge of the business session with Frank Billheimer as secretary.

W. R. Brandon, a member of the State Highway Patrol at Medina gave a very interesting and instructive talk on safety on the highways. He stressed the proper operation of a car on the highway and keeping the car in proper condition for safe driving. The organization of the Highway Patrol was explained, with the purposes the organization is attempting to accomplish.

The Congress girls' quartette composed of Jean Garver, Marjorie Walker, Wilma Camp, and Betty Crumley, gave several special musical numbers during the program. They were accompanied by Miss Ruth Flint, music supervisor in Congress schools.

Supt. Kirchhofer led the group singing and Rev. J. G. Steiner of West Salem, conducted the devotional exercises. One real of motion pictures of Wayne county ad one reel of old fashioned movies were shown by Paul Cunningham of the County Extension office. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting in the dining room.

The next meeting will be the first Tuesday in November with Robert Essick as chairman of the program committee."
