"CRESTON June 14. It was Ladies Night when the Creston Board of Trade met in the Presbyterian Church parlors, Tuesday evening. Presbyterian Guide served a three-course dinner to about sixty.
Earl Long president called the business session and presented the speaker Prof. Harry Young of Wooster and Anthony Weitzel of Akron. Mr. Young talked on Band organization in the schools, what a band means to young people and to the community, and he urged the organization of a Band Mothers Club or a Community Band Boosters Club.
Subjects of M5r. Weitzel's talk was "Why an Akron Beacon Columnist Failed to Show Up."
Harry Frey talked favorably about the band and told what measures had been taken in the local schools the past year to encourage the youth and named instruments which had been purchased by the schools.
Board of Trade voted to back a band and organized a club. William Newberry was elected president of the Band Mothers' Club, Frank Ritzi is vice-president, Mrs. D. W. Tyler secretary, Mrs. Paul Winkler treasurer.
A collection of over $6 was taken for the Creston library fund."
