"One hundred twelve were in attendance at the Annual West Salem High School banquet, Saturday evening. Rev. LaRoy Ruble of the United Methodist Church gave the invocation. The Welcome was presented by Paul Saltsman. Mrs. Mae Richel, Flat Rock, Ohio was named "Sweetheart of West Salem" as she was honored as the eldest present and a student of the 1899 graduating class. President Howard Hines presented Mrs. Richel with a corsage of poink edged white Carnations. Also honored were members of the Class of 1925 celebrating their 50th anniversary. Their Motto was "at the Foothills climbing" colors "Cerise and Blue" flower "pink tea rose" members of the class present were-- Donald Winter, Mrs. Beulah (Smally) Ewing, Mrs. Louis (Kline) Irvin Leonard Hines, Mrs. Louis (Van Over) Foster and Norman Britton.

Secretary Mrs. Beulah Ewing read the news article Announcing the commencement exercises from the West Salem News dated May 21, 1925. Commencement was held at the West Salem Opera House. Their banquet was served by Thelma Rebekah Lodge at the IOOF Hall. Alumni members answered roll call by introducing themselves and relating a brief account of their families and life. Mrs. Bessie (Ball) McBride, represented the Class of 1909. An essay written by Mrs. Viola (McBride) Crebs, when she was a sixth grader was read. President Hines related several incidents of his school days, other alumni members recalled their experiences. Everyone agreed this was a delightful program. Officers elected for 1976 include Prs. Paul Saltsman, Vice Pres. Mrs. Iris Shakley, Sec. Mrs. Lois Garn. The banquet was served by the Northwestern Band Boosters. Decorating by Mrs. Iris Shakley, Mrs. Edith Saltsman, Mrs. Lois Garn and Dorothy C. Repp, was beautifully done in the 1925 class colors and tea Roses.

Out of State members were from California and Michigan."
