LARWILL FUNERAL TO BE HELD ON THURSDAY
John Fawcet Larwill, familiarly known as Fawcet Larwill, passed away at noon Tuesday, Feb. 19th, at his home on West Larwill street. Mr. Larwill was born in Bucyrus, Ohio, and came with his parents to Wooster in 1854.
In the years of his young manhood he learned the jeweler trade with Mr. Lindel Sprague, who in the earlier history of Wooster was known as the most reliable and expert jeweler in the county. Under his instruction Mr. Larwill became an efficient and expert workman in all the lines of the trade. Later he established himself in business at New Albany, Ind., at which place he met and married Miss. Hattie Brander. After a number of successful business years in New Albany, he accepted a larger and more promising field in the city of Louisvile, Ky. Here his integrity and skill as a workman soon won him a large and lucrative trade. In later years, since returning to Wooster, Mr. Larwill frequently referred to his residence in Louisville as the most delightful of his business and social experience.
But Wooster always had a great attraction for him. Here his uncles John Larwill and Joseph Larwill, with their families, were among the old established families of the village as it was then.
The name of Larwill can never be erased from the records of Wooster. Liberal and progressive, they gave valuable lands for public buildings and churches.
To Wooster Mr. Fawcet Larwill came to spend the closing years of his life. For a time he followed his profession, but in later years devoted himself to the care of his property and his home to which he was ardently attached.
Politically, Mr. Larwill was a Democrat, emphatically and always. Religiously, he was a Baptist, an ardent and earnest believer in what the Baptist denomination stands for. He rarely missed any of the services of the church. He was chosen trustee of the church and served in that capacity for a number of years. He also served as Supt. of the Sunday school in both of which positions he gave the best that was in him.
Mr. Larwill, wife and daughter, Georgia, have preceeded him to the better land. One sister, Miss Nannie Larwill and one daughter, Miss Laura, survive.
Funeral services will be held at the late residence, Thursday, at 2 P. M., conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. E. Brown and a former pastor, Rev. Allen and Rev. W. E. Feeman.
