Karl Merz
One of the most influential educators and musical scholars of his day organized the music department of Wooster College in 1882. He had a national reputation, having to his credit many published works. He was born in Germany in 1836 and died in Wooster, Ohio in 1890. On his tombstone erected by Wooster citizens a music scroll with the words "I know that my Redeemer liveth".
