St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church is the oldest Catholic parish in Wayne County and in the Cleveland Diocese. The Catholic settlers first came to Wayne County, Ohio in Fall 1826 and soon thereafter, the first mass was held. A log church was started in 1836 and soon had become too small. The cornerstone of the first brick church was laid in July 1850.
