Location Wooster
Description photo Located at the foot of S. market St., Wooster, Ohio. Commodious back buildings and stabling, and ample ground room. For many years, this three-story brick house was the home of descendants from the original Larwill family that settled Wooster in the early 1800s. One of the oldest homes in the city, the building spent its early days as a tavern and stagecoach stop on the turnpike road connecting Cleveland and Columbus. But as a family home, the house also hosted important political and social guests of the Larwill family, and its luxurious furnishings were noted frequently in magazines featuring antique collections. The last of the family to live here was O. H. "Bob" Larwill before the building and site were purchased by H. A. Kauffman, owner of Kauffman's Service Station in the late 1940s. The house was then demolished to make room for a filling station.[1]
