Comprehensive History

Canaan Methodist Church was located west of the southeast corner of Section 4 in Canaan Township (Township Road 178, southwest of, Creston). The land was deeded to Church Trustees in March 1832 per Wayne County Land Deeds, Volume 13, page 731. The only other source found for this church was The Beginnings of Wayne County in 1812, Richard Smith (compiler), page 34.
