Sugar Creek Township is one of four original townships of Wayne County, Ohio as defined on 11 April 1812.
Reportedly named after a creek.[1]
Reportedly James Goudy started the third permanent white settlement in Wayne County in the fall of 1809 when he settled two miles southwest of Dalton.[2]
