The Wayne County (OH) Wiki has many names of individuals throughout its pages.  These individuals may be connected with an occupation, included in property records, census records, family reunions, multi-generation photos and much more.  When detailed information on individuals are found, Wiki editors create a page for that individual.  One example would be the Reasin Beall page.  The quickest way to find pages about individuals is to do a search on the surname.

Newspapers are full of good information.  One type of article often found is a notice on family reunionsMany times, these notices are full of genealogy. Our department has a notebook of family reunion notices published in the local newspapers. This is not a complete file nor has the index been completely "wikified".

Compiled genealogies may be used as a guide when researching one's ancestryHowever, much care needs taken when using someone else's research, especially when no documentation has been included.

Many times families find photos of unidentified ancestors.  Some find their way in antique shops.  Others find their way to estate, yard or garage sales.  Many have found a home at local librariesAt the Wayne County Public Library, we have many unidentified photos. This section of Wiki focuses on displaying these unidentified photos.

The Genealogy and Local History Department depends on researchers to donate their family histories. The preferred format is print. When possible, please include an index or table of contents with donated family histories.
 +

 +
We have a growing collection of Family papers and Family histories.  Family papers are a collection of loose leaf papers organized by surname. These may include 1 or 2 sheets of paper or several envelopes. Contents may include research notes, family group sheets, pedigree charts, wills, copies of census records or obituaries, and much more. Staff do not have the time to keep families with the same surnames grouped together. It is the responsibility of the researcher to sort through the papers and determine which documents go with which families.
 +

 +
Family histories are published works. They may be self-published or published by a publisher.  Some include indexes.  Many do not.
 +

 +
The department is not responsible for any incorrect information in the family papers or family histories.  Similar to online compiled genealogies, researchers should evaluate the information, verify the information through their own research, and draw their own conclusions based on the information compiled through multiple resources.
