Upon the death of Anthony Wright in 1895, the home was inherited by his only surviving daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Wright, married to James Moffett Quinby. James Quinby dies in 1904. In 1908, Elizabeth (Wright) Quinby sells lot number 688 to William A. and Mary A. Fike. William and Mary Fike have a daughter Cree A. Fike who marries Oscar Jacob Lorson. Eventually, Oscar and Cree purchase the property, year is unknown. They have one daughter, Elisabeth M. Lorson, who inherits the property following the death of her parents (1987) (Cree A. Lorson dies 20 Feb 1983 and Oscar Jacob Lorson dies 7 Jan 1987.) In 2007, Elisabeth Lorson sells the property to the Donald & Alice Noble Foundation, Inc. About 5 months later, the Foundation gives the property to the Liberty Center Connections, Inc./Community Crossroads, Inc. In 2009, Elisabeth “Betty” M. Lorson succumbs to death. From 2010 until present, the house has served as a Pathway House, providing housing for individuals receiving treatment and recovering from alcoholism.

Comprehensive History

  • According to the Wayne County, Ohio auditor's page, the house located at 245 Beall Ave (old number 27 Beall Ave) was built in 1861. I was lot number 688 in Wooster, Ohio. This is recorded in volume 1 of Town Plats on page 232.
  • Anthony Wright was the first property owner. When he died, the property went to his only heir, Mrs. Elizabeth Quinby, wife of James Quinby.
  • On 30 December 1904, the eastern 83-1/2 feet of lot 688 was sold to Amanda Mowrey.[1]
  • On 6 April 1908, the remaining part of lot 688 was sold to William A. and Mary A. Fike.[2]
  • Cree A. Fike, daughter of William A. and Mary A. Fike, married Oscar Jacob Lorson. William A. Fike, his two dressmaker daughters, Alpha B. Fike and Ada M. Fike, continued to reside in the home when Oscar Jacob and Cree A. (Fike) Lorson moved in as early as 1923.
  • Oscar Jacob and Cree A. Lorson had one daughter, Elizabeth M. Lorson.
