Biographical sketch

John Rose was one of the original members of the Wayne Presbyterian Church, organized 22 August 1833. John is buried at the church cemetery. From his tombstone, he was born 12 June 1781 and died 6 January 1849. He was married to Margery. Two of the their sons were baptized at the church: John Rose was baptized 2 September 1833 and Wiliam Rose was baptized 9 October 1836. When John Rose's will was probated on 26 February 1849, the children were listed as James; Daniel; John; Mary, married to William Armstrong; Jane, married to John McPherson; and Agnes.

According to the Grave Registration Card of John Rose, he served in the War of 1812 with Captain Warrens Bissells Co. He enlisted on the 26 August 1812 and was discharged 30 November 1812.
