A Wooster street with the same name as one of its parks in Cohan Road, West of Burbank Road, which extends for only a long block to Eddy Street where the small park for which it is named is situated. Contrary to the jocular designation on a novelty map, published on Wooster's 175th Anniversary, the park and the short street were named not for the song-and-dance man, George M., but for Joseph Cohan who donated the land to the city which dedicated it for a recreational use and purpose after some years in 1961. The park itself had been laid out earlier when the site was accepted from the developer, and facilities were installed. In 1958 a new $5,000 pavilion was completed. Cohan went to the park one day shortly afterward to view it, and died of a heart attack the next day. [1]
