As a lifelong member of Oak Grove Mennonite Church, he served as Chairman of the Church Council, and as Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday school teacher. His dedication to his church extended to service as President of the Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale Board, President of Mennonite Central Committee Meat Canning, Board Member to Mennonite Mutual Aid, and service through Mennonite Disaster Service in Haiti.
