Agriculture has always been and continues to be a key part of the Wayne County economic base. Though according to 2015 Data USA: for Wayne County the county reported only 4% or 2,386 of its employees as agricultural workers, the image of the county as an agricultural one remains strong.

Ramseyer Farms, a fifth-generation family farm located northeast of Wooster on SR 585, has been well known over the entire Eastern and Central parts of the United States for years and still operates a highly successful agricultural and agritourism business today.
Smith Dairy Products Company began operations in 1908 and continues to grow and operate a successful business in Orrville, Ohio.
