The house at 1320 Quinby Ave. was built by contractor Long & Bogner in 1919 for property owner George W. Blake, General Manager of the Buckeye Aluminum Co. The landscape architect hired to design the grounds was Wallace M. Welty. Welty's original landscape plans for the property can be found at the Wayne County Historical Society.
The little house to the south of the main house at 1320 Quinby Ave. was originally the servant's quarters.
