- The above cut gives a fair idea of the spacious three-story brick building occupied by Messrs. Zimmerman & Co., wholesale and retail dealers in staple and fancy Groceries, Drugs, Medicines and Druggists' Sundries, also a large line of miscellaneous Books and School Supplies. The jobbing business of this house extends over a large territory in Northern Ohio where they are represented by experienced traveling salesmen, who place may thousands of dollars worth of goods per annum. This house also has a large retail side in which they give employment to no less than 12 clerks, the shelves and stock rooms being well filled with the standard brands of every variety of goods in their line. This solid old commercial house was established in 1852 by the late State Senator John Zimmerman, of the 17-28th district. Mr. Zimmerman also held many other prominent positions, being for many years the President of the Wooster National Bank. The present members of the firm are Mr. L. P. Ohliger and Mr. J. R. Zimmerman, who are gentlemen well and favorably known in mercantile and financial circles. They are both public-spirited gentlemen, of who much might be said. Mr. Ohliger, the senior member of the present firm, having held the position of Postmaster under President Cleveland's administration, which duty he discharged with credit to himself and satisfaction to the public. These gentlemen are well deserving of the prosperity and popularity which they enjoy.
