Comprehensive History
Apple Creek Presbyterian Church was established 1815 in, Apple Creek. It was the first Presbyterian church in Wayne County. Scotch-Irish from Beaver and Fayette Counties in Pennsylvania formed the church. In 1926 the congregation joined with the Methodists to form Apple Creek United Church. 40 members opposed the merger and formed Calvary Presbyterian Church. Final dissolution of this church came in 1974 when members voted to join the Methodist denomination. Bowen & Co., 1910, Vol. 1. pages 261 & 262, History of Wayne County, Ohio, 1987, page 64 and History of the Apple Creek Presbyterian Church 1815-1915 (located in the Genealogy Dept. at Wayne County Public Library). A cemetery exists with the name of the church.
