    Extension Service

    • 1935 - A budget was set to provide equipment, room in the basement of the library for a collection of books for county extension. Much work was done during the summer in starting this collection library. The library was promised $2,000 from county funds for the work and also $500-$700 from the State Aid Funds which had been made available by the Ohio State Legislature in 1933.
    • 1941 - July, William E. Bartel, first extension librarian was called to Army camp. Replaced by Helen Vallish was able to drive the bookmobile. [1]
    • 1942 - October, Priscilla Johnson County extension librarian and resigned March 1944. [2]
    • 1945 - Up to this point Branches received no budget of their own. They were provided books and librarians from the Main library. The buildings were funded by the towns they were located in. At times, too little supervision and help from Wooster a problem Helen Sebeika hoped to solve. [3]

    • 1947 - February, Mrs. Faith Stoughton was hired as County librarian.

    • 1950 - May, Mrs. Faith Stoughton resigned as County librarian. Replaced by Lawrence Huber as County librarian. [6]
    • 1951 - New service added was to bring books and a way to read them while in bed was brought to hospital patients. [7]
