Historical Information

Springfield Township was initially designated a township of Wayne County, Ohio 5 Jun 1815. In 1817, the northern half of Springfield Township became Plain Township and the southern half became Pike Township.[1]

It was formed with the following boundaries. Starting at the NE corner of section 24, township 19, range 14 go west to the NW corner of section 20 then on the section lines to the SW corner of section 20, township 18 and on to the SE corner of section 24, before finally back north to the starting place.[2]
