Comprehensive History
In 1950, Allen Yenne and Carl E. Smith, both of whom had experience in the oil and gas business around Ohio, established the Sandy Supply Company in both Wooster and Zanesville, Ohio. After an initially bumpy start attempting to "secure direct mill distributorships from various pipe manufacturers," the company grew to become one of the leading suppliers of gas and oil supplies east of the Mississippi River[1].
