Wayne County, Ohio Online Resource Center Portals
Welcome to the
Genealogy Portal
  • About

The Wayne County Online Resource Center, Genealogy Portal serves as both source and repository for research pertaining to the Wayne County residents. It is not a complete record of all residents of the county. It serves as a platform that encourages others in the community to submit information for the Wayne County (OH) Wiki.

Two other portals exist: Business and Local History. The Business Portal focuses on a variety of businesses, some that have seen their time come and go while others are still active in the community. The Local History Portal focuses on other aspects of local history.

For an introduction to conducting genealogical research, see our Getting started guide.

If you're looking for something specific, use the search bar above.

To find information about the Smith family, for example, you would search for "Smith (surname)" without quotation marks.

Community

Volunteers and the support of the College of Wooster interns have been the backbone of collection development in Genealogy and Local History.

Many of our resources available today were the product of former and present-day staff members; library volunteers; members of the Wayne County Historical Society and the Wayne County Genealogical Society; College of Wooster intern students; Kent State University intern and practicum students; and many other community members.

The library is welcoming volunteers back to assist staff. If you are interested in assisting with projects for the Genealogy and Local History Collection, please contact Susan Buchwalter, Human Resources. Her direct number is 330.804.4683.
