The Lura B. Kean Elementary School located on Oldman Rd. in Wooster, Ohio was built in 1966. It was named to honor the service and memory of Lura B. Kean, one of the most respected and dedicated teachers and administrators that ever served in the Wooster City School system. Lura B. Kean was born in Wayne County, Ohio. She attended school in Wayne County and graduated from The College of Wooster in 1889. After college she became a teacher and taught in Massillon, Richwood, and Miamisburg before returning to Wooster in 1896 to join the Wooster City School system. She attained the position of Principal, which she held until her retirement in 1931.
