- 1892 - Fisher's Granite Works - When men pay their final tribute to departed loved ones and friends, it is not as a rule in a mere waste of words which lose their pathos in the desert air, but in a more lasting and substantial manner is carved the epitaph on the granite and marble that stand as a sacred memento near the mound over which loving hearts and gentle hands have strewn wreaths and garlands of flowers, and shed tears of repentance for the many bitter thoughts and pangs of sorrow that we, the living, have caused the one who sleeps in silence there. 'Tis with an awe that we draw near the handiwork of the sculptor, and as we read the lines chiseled in the rock, we can almost hear the rustle of the dark-winged messenger as he bids us come, and though we doff our hats as we gaze on the awe-inspiring shaft that pierces the skies, we must turn to unmarked mounds, and though they are unknown to the passing stranger, they are known and loved by others.
It is far beyond the ability of the writer to do justice in properly describing the modern marble works, such as the one conducted by Mr. George A. Fisher on East South Street. As we look through Mr. Fisher's large and well assorted stock of unmarked monuments and headstones, it calls to mind the "Johnstown Country," where side by side lie 800 graves, at the head of which are placed headstones without mark or letter. But Mr. Fisher and his competent workmen are thoroughly equipped to finish all kinds of monumental work and place in position on the shortest notice in any cemetery. Mr. Fisher has been engaged in his business for the past seven years in Wooster, where he was born and raised. To thoroughly appreciate his work one should see the monument of Warren Aylsworth in Oak Hill Cemetery as well as the stock he carries. [1]

Fisher and Harold Fisher, joined him in operating the firm (Ralph was also a Wooster mayor and Harold was mayor of Pandora, Ohio). The business was first located on E. South street near Market street, then later moved to the corner of S. Buckeye and E. South streets where the post office is today.

Fisher Monuments
The monument business was started in Wooster in 1890 [sic 1895][4] by a former Wooster mayor, George A. Fisher, whose sons: Ralph E. Fisher and Harold Fisher, joined him in operating the firm (Ralph was also a Wooster mayor and Harold was mayor of Pandora, Ohio). The business was first located on E. South street near Market street, then later moved to the corner of S. Buckeye and E. South streets where the post office is today.
Following the death of George A. Fisher and his brother Harold Fisher, Ralph Fisher and his wife Deltha Fisher became sole owners of the business. When the post office was built in 1966 the Fishers moved their business and office to the northwest corner of Portage Rd. and St. Rt. 585. Then in 1974, George Newman and Norma Newman bought the business from the Fishers and owned it up until 1990 when they sold the business to one of his employees.
The business was moved to the corner of Schellin Rd. and St. Rt. 3 north of Madisonburg, where it continued as Pertee Monuments.[5]
